SOCAN was proud to present the members of rock band Stabilo with a No. 1 Song Award in recognition of their song "Flawed Design," which topped Canadian Music Network's Hot Adult Contemporary Chart on May 16, 2006. The song was written by Jesse Dryfhout and Christopher John, and published by Yellow Dart Publishing and Amygdala Music.
The song is co-written with U.S. based writer Kevin Kadish (ASCAP). His Canadian sub-publisher, Warner Chappell Music Canada, will be presented with their plaque at a future date.
SOCAN Board member Jim Vallance and West Coast Relationship Manager Terry O'Brien presented the No. 1 plaques on the late afternoon of Sept. 28, at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom, before Stabilo's performance that night.
Attending the event were Dryfhout's parents, Cynthia Barry from SRO Management, and Gary Frederick-Dunne from EMI Music Canada. Also attending from SOCAN were Kent Sturgeon and April Lebedoff. Both Dryfhout and John expressed their gratitude.
